Singhraj Adana from India Won a Bronze Medal in the Shooting Event
The Tokyo Paralympics held in 2020, and the country has qualified a number of athletes to participate. India’s medal tally reached 27 at the Rio Olympics. Singhraj Adana won the gold with a score of 216.8 in the final, finishing third to add to India’s total of medals earned so far.
Singhraj Adana, an Indian shooter, won the bronze medal in the P1 men’s 10m air pistol SH1 final at the Paralympics on Monday. His overall score in the finale was 216.8 and he placed third to India’s medal count. It brings India’s total number of medals so far at the Games to 8.
With his 19th attempt, Adana plummeted out of contention, but he was able to return in the competition with his 20th shot when China’s Xiaolong Lou scored 8.6. China, on the other hand, won the finals with defending champion Chao Yang (237.9) and Huang Xing (237.5) taking gold and silver medals, respectively. Singhraj had moved up to third after his 9.1 dropped him to fourth before his series went low.
Manish Narwal of India ended at seventh place in the final. He topped the preliminary round with 575 points, yet he could not capitalize on it in the championship. For Singhraj, the qualification round was a success since he posted 95 and 97 in each of the first two series. He fell behind in third with a 93 but quickly bounced back with a 95. In the second to last sequence, Singraj achieved an incredible 97 by just being able to squeeze into the final.
SH1 class includes athletes who have an impairment affecting one arm or the legs, for example owing to amputations or spinal cord damage. The men’s 10 air pistol event is classified as P1. In a sitting position or in a standing one, depending on the rules, shooters participate.
